Student Organizations

Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO's) are recognized as integral to the career and technical education program. CTSO's provide a unique program of career and leadership development, motivation and recognition for high school students enrolled in career and technical programs. CTSO's are not "clubs" to which only a few career and technical students belong. Rather, a CTSO is a powerful instructional tool that works best when integrated into the career and technical curriculum and classroom by a career and technical instructor who is committed to the development of the total person, career and technical educators recognize the importance of providing students with job and career-related training that complements the job-specific skills needed for entry into a particular field.

Stanwood High School participates in the following organizations. There are links below to both the state and national levels.

FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) is an educational association of student members preparing for careers in business and business-related fields. FBLA provides innovative leadership development programs to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship.

FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of young people by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success. The FFA chapter in Stanwood has opportunities from floriculture to genetic engineering and raising crops or animals to marketing and mechanics technology. There are more than 300 diverse careers in agriculture that FFA assists in contributing to the personal and career development of each student.

The Technology Student Association (TSA) is the only student organization devoted exclusively to the needs of young people in industrial technology education programs. Its mission is to inspire its student members to prepare for careers in a technology-driven economy and culture. TSA fosters personal growth, leadership, and opportunities in technology, innovation, design, and engineering. Members apply and integrate science, technology, engineering and mathematic concepts through co-curricular activities, over 35 competitive events and related programs. TSA offers activities in the areas of Architecture, Construction, Engineering, Manufacturing, Communications Technology, Video and Graphic Design, Vehicle Design, Industrial Design, and many other Technology driven industries. With the motto of 'Learning, living and leading in a technological world', TSA has something to offer any student.

WCTSMA (Washington Career & Technical Sports Medicine Association) is a student organization devoted exclusively to high school sports medicine students preparing for careers in the sports medicine field. The WCTSMA hosts a variety of events for students including; winter leadership conference and the annual state competition and symposium each April. Current and former sports medicine students are encouraged to become members and participate in these state events. See Mr. Brennan for details on how you can become involved in the WCTSMA.
